Ok so i checked all connections and ended up replacing the transmission harness. The problem did not get fixed BUT now i do get 3 check transmission codes.
MID130 SID248 FMI2
MID130 SID39 FMI5
MID130 SID40 FMI5
I did a search on these codes but i found nothing. Anybody else that might know what they mean?
Thank you -
I had a 98 volvo with an N14 that did this exact thing. Two different times. Ended up being a different thing each time, but symptoms were identical. Just like you turned the key off and back on, horrible shock to the driveline. What caused mine was, the first time corroded ends on the ecm fuse which was in the battery box on that truck. Next time it was a sticking injector (due to ULSD). Fix that time was atf added to the fuel. Did you check for all ground wires, not just battery and starter? You might have to turn into sherlock holmes for a day to find it. I'm betting it's either a bad ground, or a bad fuse/connector/ etc. someplace. That could cause strange codes to appear too.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Those codes are for the X-Y shifter motor faults and a communication problem with the trans ECU. If they showed up after you replaced the trans harness, then the harness is defective, the wrong one, installed wrong or one (or more) pins were bent during installation.

Ok i replaced the trans ECU and problem solved.
