I've had about enough of the radio(cobra29ltd) in the truck at my new job... Been battling intermittent poor/no transmission since i started. I might be able to talk to a guy fine at one point, drive 10 miles up the rd and the next guy wont hear me or they say it sounds like i'm whispering. Dynamike is maxed out, cb/pa switch is in CB mode. When I key up I've needle swing and no ant light on. My reception is good(few miles out and everyone sounds clean)
I've changed antenna's twice with new ones( dual setup), checked swr twice (just under 2 across the band, good enough for me) 3-4 different mics(1 was new). No change...Is there something else I should check?
I dont need to talk around the globe, just to the loader operators at the quarries and the other drivers while we go in circles...
Im going to grab and extra radio or two at the shop tmw morning and swap them later and punt this one across the driveway. But im still curious what the deal is. I've seen it talked about a lot but not paid much attention to it, but is this a possible "finals" blown out of it issue? Any other ideas?
    Thanks...

2012 pete 388 daycab. Using the standard mount on the mirror.... Swapped the radio out after work this afternoon. .Checked out the swr, not horrible..Ch1-1.9 Ch20-1.5 Ch 40-2.1 I'll prolly readjust in a couple days and bring my ch 1 down a bit as most places I go to are 1,7 or 19..

@ a 2.swr your looseing about 12%....1.9 is 9% and 2.1 is about 13% loss..Now add all the other possibilitys like crap coax,or crap ends, bad counterpoise(ground) you could be looseing 50% of the radios power..
I would tune each antenna seperately then as the pair..Might single out an issue with those results..

Sounds to me like some of the issue is coax but could be radio to..Had to pin point it over the net..All it takes is a crap coax or a tiny piece of solder inside your radio to bounce around..

    Counterpoise is not a ground.
