I worked 3 days last week (including Sat) and Net was $1,900, this week, I've really stepped on the gas, (freight is moving more than the rest of the year)....so settlement next Friday should be good....but keep in mind, the rest of this year sucked...I would only go O/O if you can buy a truck outright (no note) and still have 10K or more left over....if not, keep saving, next year should be better...

Ok so did you choose to work 3 days or what. Also how do you watch your mpg? Just drive slow?

Was down for 1 1/2 week (waiting for a radiator from Peterbilt!!!)....

I watch my MPG the old fashioned way, (notebook where I write down EVERY fuel up + ODOMETER miles)....but honestly, with diesel prices being so low (next to no FSC because of it) I slow down more for chassis tire preservation than for MPG's!!!!

One thing I've realized about local Intermodal work is MPG's will be in the 6's no matter what you drive (CAT, Cummins or Detroit) unlike other applications, you're on highway time is relatively low and your idle time is high (lots of city driving vs highway driving, lot's of waiting in the truck at the rail or load/unload)...so I keep my MPG record, more as a way to watch out for he health of the engine (a sudden drop is a sure sign of something not being right), than for actual savings.

If I ONLY did drop and hook regional work, that might be different.

Ya after each load i see how many gallons i filled up. Weird on a cummins 09 im doing 4.5 mpg. Regional with a local or 2 regionals. But i was doing 7 when i first started. Im not happy about the 4.5 i mean i use control as much as i can. But maybe its bcz my 67mph. Im not always at 4.5 i maybe at 6 a day or 3. But im trying to prepare now. Oh btw does kiswani help with o/o tolls.

Your engine needs the overhead set, thats WAY too low, unless you run on the pedal ALL the time!!!!

My 14L Detroit was getting 5.97 and this 15L Cat is been doing 6.25....And thats doing 63-70 on Interstate and mostly local tri axle work!!!!!

4NOREASON, I'm curious, what were you getting MPG wise, when driving for your previous employer?

Just curious as to what their spec trucks were doing MPG wise....

Hey whats a overhead set? And ya the mpg is low. Dont know why though. Sometimes im cruise control straight to my pick up. My old company i was at 7-8 mpg. I had a 2014 sleeper. My daycab before i left was at a good 6-7. Thats why im wondering. Is it me or the truck . That mpg as. O/o no no no

    Open tops, can be 20, 40 or 45....not seen a 53 yet....

Their used to transport freight that is loaded or unloaded over the top. Or Hazmat freight that needs to vent.
