Ya I understand that but if your being compensated to make up for all that you should still be able to pull in enough money in a 70 hour week. So your saying the only way to make money as an O/O doing rails is to cheat basically?
I'm not arguing with you, so don't take it the wrong way. Lol.
And ya the wait times are/can be ridiculous not only for repairs but lifts, heck sometimes just to get to the gate.

Can't pull enough money in when you can't finish the move in one day - look at the times
Chicago to Indianapolis 190 miles one way via google maps.
2 hrs for repair at ramp
3.5 HR travel time to shipper
2-4 hr wait time to get loaded
En route back I-65 get's shut down like it typically does in 4-7 times in the winter
You run out of hours.
1 Indianapolis trip can possibly take 2 days under the elog -
Companies like XPO, JB Hunt etc are pushing this e-log business on everyone but they're not doing those moves themselves, they know moves that require a longer waiting time they can push on to other truckers that aren't using elogs. IE M&J in Chicago. They run BNSF to Cincy with reloads in Indianapolis area for JB Hunt. JB won't question if they're going to do them with 1 driver, but they will pay them only as a back haul for one driver with same day cut off.
RERM Thanks this. -
I don't get why try and put a truck on in the intermodal side of trucking then?

HalpinUout and RERM Thank this.

I've run on Elogs while OTR, I must say, just from an admin standpoint, I can't wait. The entire industry knows when EVERYONE is on Elogs, productivity WILL suffer, so rates will HAVE to increase dramatically (look at what SWIFT, CR England and others have already told their clients)....this increase will likely be gradual, but inevitable. Intermodal is no different, changes WILL HAVE to happen, the rails WILL come under pressure, (and so will a LOT of companies). Shippers and receivers will feel it as well (expect detention after 1hr and rates to rocket up...a lot of OTR companies are already at 1hr and $100 per hour (granted, they still pay drivers a fraction of that)....HalpinUout and 4noReason Thank this. -

i personally dont have an issue with elogs.
i'm not a outlaw, but by no means am i a goodie two shoe either. i'll adapt. if truckers cant adapt then they got no biz being in the game.mp4694330 and HalpinUout Thank this. -
ELogs are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Now im paid what i should be to work a 60 hour week instead of working 80 to make the same.
HalpinUout Thanks this. -
If you can't make money in 70 hours then dang. IDK
