Back in the oldern days, mine was 2 days and then thrown to the wolves.

Training in Chicago is one day pre-hire crap, road test, 2 days classroom, 1 day combined classroom and container securement, 1 day riding around with a local guy (you do all the driving)
IMO they should 2 days riding around with a local driver. -
Old thread but you guys are lucky! lol! Jb hunt gave me a container number and directions to my reciever and said good luck!
Rocks Thanks this. -
There isnt that much to it.. ive been with XPO Logistics in Houston, Tx. Our company does a one time orientation class, about locking and unlocking pins, parking and inspecting equipment.. its not the end of the world.. Basically you do pre trips everytime you pick up a chassis/container unit

I'm curious about intermodal... Have the impression that driver is constantly dealing with repairs (by him/herself) and problems with equipment...
-
Why don't I see any female doing intermodal? Are they out there? What do you guys think?
Is there a lot of heavy work involved? -
They are out there! The company i work for, XPO has 6 female o/os righy now..its noy as hard as you all thinkRocks Thanks this.

imagine dealing with us dirtbags 5-6 times a day at a railyard, instead of just once a day at a truck stop.
