There is not ONE RECRUITER in the country that doesn't claim their drivers "average 2500 miles per week." Recruiters lie. Also that could be true even if you get 500 miles per week and a team truck is getting 4500 miles per week. All things a recruiter says are false until verified by current working drivers at the company.
As a new driver I would suggest going OTR for a bit until you get the hang of things. It's been awhile since I've been to Long Beach port (don't know if Knight does that) but I know for sure I wouldn't be willing to go there now, Ive heard wait times can be horrendous.
How long is your contract with Knight? There's plenty of local work after you gain some experience. Several line haul companies will hire you after you finish your contract. Old Dominion Freight Line Oak Harbor Freight Lines a few more
If you don't mind physical labor, Sysco hires new cdl school grads in Las Vegas and has cdl school tuition reimbursement. Can make $100G a year. Recent driving school graduates welcome For information on Sysco’s Benefits, please visit Sysco Benefits ~
If you want OTR, Pride Transport has safe parking in Las Vegas for when you're on home time. @Snowshoes can give details. CDL Jobs | Hiring Now in Utah | Pride Transport
Eventually, I'd prefer some sort of regional position. I'm not opposed to OTR, but I don't really want to be away from home for 4-6 weeks. Thank you.
