I drove a rental Pro Star day cab for a day. 2013 with 6000 miles on it. Fit and finish was terrible. Door seals leaked water and it rode like crap. It looked wore out.

I like the prostar.
Magnetic curtain is nice for teams (no tearing velcro sound waking you up when teammate rummages in the back for whatever on a break)
Turns on a dime
headlight interrupt button on steering wheel
radio control buttons on steering wheel
decent factory cb wiring
decent sized cabinets in sleeper
nice open space below bunk to put shoes, flats of water bottles, etc
decent overhead storage up front
sleeper side windows standard
light weight (with maxxforce)
good power (with maxxforce)
no DEF (with maxxforce)
flip-forward front bumper gives extra ball room during pretrips
Good aero & mileage
Lets you temporarily exceed governor (~15 sec burst helps complete pass)
Cons:
EGR & dozer need frequent attention -- especially for those that idle (maxxforce)
backlighting on radio worthless in sunlight
rides like a tonka toy
fit/finish subpar
super-curved sides on windsheild destroys wipers in no time (and let ice build quickly on wiper edges)
FM radio antenna always in the way when cleaning windshield
Only 1 power plug in driver area
Shifting into 9th (in a 10speed) with a cup in the center cupholder will often spill drink/bump cord from power socketarchangelic peon, Skydivedavec, Lux Prometheus and 1 other person Thank this. -
Another thing I loved about the ProStar was the big steps. Less likely to slip getting in and out.

I'm a small company owner with 3 2005/6 Volvo's and 1 2005 Mack.
i had too many repairs and breakdowns this year.
my partner advised me to take on a lease on a brand new 2013 International prostar 10 spd, with the new IPU? Sleeper warmer/a/c, the dealer has got 20+left overs on the lot and offering a 1700.00/month lease with 120k/year for 4 years term, warranty is 4 years ,bumper to bumper (so far, it's a verbal, I want to see it on paper).
it sounds pretty good so far, but I need input on these engines , transmissions and the overal performance of these trucks, I have no knowledge of these trucks. Your input is greatly appreciated
please reply with both negative and positive posts.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -

I have a 2013 prostar with the cummins. At first i loved my truck but it has slowly started to make me hate it. my truck has 72,000 miles on it and so far the heater core has messed up I get check engine lights and warn engine lights all the time. The wrap around shelve that goes above your head has started to separate and actually has loosed up from its mounts. The dirt sticks to the floor like glue because of the rubber texture so about every other day im washing my floor to keep the dust down. The seals above the windows leak water and the doors bleed hair like a mother. I've noticed that I don't have the the seals that cover up the gap between the hood and door. And my truck has no storage what's so ever! I think its more on the companies fault than international. They spec'd this truck really bad...Midroof with two beds...Really? The turning radius isn't the best but i'm coming from a volvo so that's expected and its super heavy on the steers even with the fifth wheel slid all the way back.

As an owner/dispatcher/investor perspective, what route do you recommend to take? We haul 53' reefers across USA and Canada.
Volvo 730 w/ I shift?
With good credit that I have, what leases offers are best out there?
i've been advised to take on the freightliner cascadia's.
The more I research, the more confused I'm getting.
need help with a good decent advise, tks in advance -
I love my pro star mainly cause I realized the idle shut off wasn't working. I can idle all I want and it doesn't tell on me also my over speed is set to my company's previous of 68 or something like that. I do 65 66 going down hull all the time and no over speeds. Other then a few random blown fuses my truck is great. its a 2011 though.
