Internet access-who are you using

the aircards cost $, if you get the Hot Spot from Verizon its FREE and does everything the AirCard does and then some.....just sayin

Cost of doing business. I write it off.

 

Loves, TA, Petro, Flying J, Pilots all Have WiFi but its NOT free. Some TS do have free wifi but their rare like SappBros have free wifi. The same with Rest Areas 98% no not have WiFi some do but from what I hear there is a time limit where it will kick you off after like 2 hours or something.


If you want to be able to get on when ever you want, I recomend getting a smart phone and a Hot Spot from verizon. I use my phone to get online while waiting at customers or in line for fuel. And the lap top for other stuff.......

####, that's cool, I didn't even realize they had that. I out of the loop when it comes to technology...

 

that makes two of us I went in to get a new phone and an aircard. and they were like why pay for that when you can get this free and it does so much more....I was like.....ok sounds good! lol I got like $500+ worth of stuff for $150!

Ever try parking a truck at any of those places....
free wifi is usually worth what you pay for it.....it kinda works....is filtered...slow...
And often not safe from a security standpoint....coverage is usually iffy....and often your downtime will be in isolated locations....shippers/revievers parking lots, etc....
Remember, if the wheels are not moving...you are not earning.
A truck driver is paid by the mile....so much like commission...and times are usually tight...stop for a few minutes, and you WILL miss you delivery appointment.....
in my little bit of downtime, my droix x has been fine...I reset at home...so usually only 10 hours off....I can feather it with verizion for a fee....but why bother......not enough hours in a day!!

 

Is 5GB/month enough for web surfing, skype ?

I do allot of YouTube uploading and downloading and allot of time on here and face book and have yet to hit the 1 GB mark out of my 5....

I dont know about skype though you might want to ask verizon about that. My guess is you would be fine as long as you dont over do it, and you can always upgrade to the 10GB plan on the hot spots, You can ONLY get 3GB or 5GB on the Air Cards you the Three options with a Hot Spot....
