I pay $50 a month for my Sprint broadband card. Mine is unlimited because I was fortunate enough to get it when they still offered unlimited.

I'm looking at tethering my T-mobile Blackberry to the laptop so I have it all in one. There is much debate and old/new info on doing that, so I'm a bit confused as yet. But with the family plan, my line will be $10/mo and the wifi will be a $25 add-on.

That's funny, but reminded me one time. I did a 34hr reset at a motel that had wireless and I had line of site of the motels wireless antenna. I about lost my mind trying figure out why I lost my signal. I called the office and they told me everything is working fine. It took me a bit after realizing another big truck truck driver decided to park his truck in front of that antenna. :biggrin_25526:

Only you can decide if it is worth it or not. It has been about five years since I came off the road. I used my constantly back then. I was with Verizon, and since I ran mostly the west I had good coverage with it. If the cell phone would work, so would the lap top.

It payed for itself every month. It was one of the few road expenses that I did not resent at all.

I had Flying J WiFi for over a year and had no problem with it . I had dedicated runs and could stay at Flying J 3 or 4 nights a week so it was worth it . Now the runs have changed and I'm home more so I didn't renew the Flying J subscription . I'm only out 3 nights a week with the new runs and loads are dedicated - out from the terminal and back so Wifi isn't really a necessity .

It's high speed (no promotion) bundled with the phone service. It would go up to $30 w/o the phone. Apparently we're being spoiled here in Cincinnati.

I guarantee you don't have unlimited UNLESS you have a business account with them. There is no grandfathering of "unlimited" bandwidth based on your join or subscribe date. I went over that with them in a very specific manner when they instituted their cap. I talked to 5 different CSR's about it and they gave me same the information about the cap and tier of service required for unlimited bandwidth. I ultimately ended up dropping my data account with them over the cap they instituted.

I would be very careful if you are a heavy user. I have had 4 friends get disconnected because they went over the 5gb limit in the last 2 months. One went over by 4gb and the other 3 were about 2.5gb over the limit. This means that Sprint IS watching and taking decisive action on "abusers" or violators of their policy.

You may be very lucky that they may not be watching your account very closely if you are a major bandwidth user.

There is WiFi available at all TA, Pilot and Love's travel centers with plans from $2 for an hour to $150 for a year.

Hit or miss... mostly miss. You need to park next to the antenna - which you can't, very slow when you can manage to connect. Best experience: free connection at Bossellman's Pilot outlets. Worst experience: Any corporate Pilot or T/A outlet. Any connection that works won't as soon as a big truck stops between you and the antenna.

You may as well just take the money and throw it out into the parking lot. You get what you pay for - pay for the aircard and connection.
