If your carrier is Verizon, then you don't need a rooted phone to use the hotspot feature.

If Verizon is your carrier, you don't need PDANet. Simply enable the wireless hotspot on your phone.

Why run on battery? If you're connecting with your laptop, just plug it in to a USB port and it will stay charged.

Never run a torrent app on your wireless connection. It is against your TOS, and your phone / wireless plan can be terminated if your carrier so chooses.

Streaming video can use a LOT of data. Try to avoid YouTube, Netflix and other streaming video sites when you're connected to your wireless data provider. They can drain your monthly allocation in a hurry. If you have a need for these services, then paying the monthly fee for a truckstop wireless connection would be a wise choice. Or you can park near a Lowe's home improvement center for the night - they have free wi-fi connections available.

Again, avoid using torrent apps at all costs when using your metered wireless data connections...

If you have an old Unlimited Plan the Hotspot costs extra $.
PDA Net/FoxFi can go around that.
I still have one of the old Unlimited Data Plans, a few other regular posters do as well.

If you have unlimited data still, that's not a concern.
Also my guess is the people that aren't unlimited are hopefully aware of that and keep a close eye on their data usage.

I have never used any TS Wifi that was worth using anyway, they are to slow and too expensive.

Decided to use my monthly fuel points and purchase the $19.99 internet plan at Pilot/Flying J.

Each month I should accumulate enough points to get another month, etc.
