I have AT&T service for my phones and tablet with 20GB data every month. I've never had to conserve my use of it and always seem to roll over data. For this month I have 32gb allotted and have only used 1/3 of it with 7 days left.
I guess it all depends on what you will be doing online...If you are watching tons of YouTube videos then you may want to keep an eye on the data...

Seriously, I have the att+directv bundle thing (280 4 lines just for the phone) and its unlimited in all of north america(USA/CAN/and that other place) I can use my tablet with USB tether to laptop or with my phone I can BT tether. Before the unlimited I could wifi tether but only had 25GB.

Most of us burn through 1 gig a week on Facebook and this websight.
Others will use more then 1 gig a night watching Netflix. The Boss Lady Thanks this. -
my phone uses my hotspots wifi, just like my laptop is right now and my ps3 and ps4... that's why I use 60-90 gb a month on my hotspot

Thanks everyone!
I pay $50 a month for unlimited hotspot (grandfathered). Believe it or not, I haven't upgraded the device since '13. They sent a new device about 2 years ago but I sent it back after they told me that if I switched, I would lose the unlimited. The device still worked well up to about 2 months ago. I also have an unlimited phone plan for $60 a month and a tablet with 1 GB.
I watch a lot of YouTube and Netflix as well as Facebook. I may drop the hotspot and just add another phone if I can't find a good plan. Replacing my current device with a similar device from EBay may work but slower since they haves upgraded the network. -
my grandfathered plan is 3G only and I do just fine with it and I do youtube and Netflix ALOT, yes I would like to go to 4G but i'm not giving up the plan I have to do itThe Boss Lady Thanks this.

I went into a sprint store today and they tried to con me into getting a tablet to use as a mobile hotspot. He said that it would be $25 a month compared to the $60 that I'm paying for a hotspot. At this point, I'm dont think I want to enter into another contract with Sprint because I'm tired of the dropped calls, the p*ss poor customer service, and the slow internet speeds when I'm home (I'm in the city and I live walking distance to the Sprint store).

Unfortunately, you will mostly find wanna-be salemen at the stores. I like my tablet being connected, although I don't use it for a hotspot.
The Boss Lady Thanks this. -
Neither sprint nor Verizon has tried to sell me a tablet.
The new phones have Wi-Fi calling now. Helps when you're in poor coverage but have access to somebody's Wi-Fi.The Boss Lady and fargonaz Thank this.
