And you're 100% right that they can use it against you if they find out. If you can't live with it, better tell them not to do swaps at all. Where I used to work they had a number of drivers that wouldn't do this or that, even on paper logs, but then they were the last to be dispatched. Simply, appointments had to be met and not all of the freight was exactly accommodating to their needs.
Interrupting sleeper break to swap loads?

What's the alternative? If you log it as required then you must restart your clock. Prior to 2004 HOS changes, all combinations of sleeper splits were possible: 2-6, 3-5, 4-4 etc. Such problems did not exist, even if someone cared.

I used to stay off duty as it was better for me financially. I now go on duty and don't hide any of my time because I know that there's a camera someplace, and even if there isn't the eld records every ignition sequence so if the driver ends up in court, there will be a record.

And it is hard to argue with that too.

I never go off duty, or I'll show the on duty as soon as I get there and notate it as drop loaded trailer/post trip. Then when I get started I notated the on duty time as hook to loaded trailer/pre trip

But how many drivers are in their sleeper but not actually asleep ? Maybe watching T.V. or writing a love letter to Mama, right ? The feds assume when in the sleeper, you're actually sleeping, but we all know ain't so. If you climb out of bed and get to reach of dashboard to grab sone water or a cig, do you log line 4 ?

Technically, it’s always recommended to log as you do things; but your company isn’t going to like that, often they are ok with a block of time just representing an action regardless of when it’s done (except for fueling). If you know you are swapping, do the work of dropping your trailer when you arrive and then just park in front of it; then you can just park in front of the other trailer when they arrive (our old qualcomms even had a PC comment for “changing parking spot at TS”).
I’d still recommend doing a cursory inspection of new trailer, the number of times I’ve been given a bad one is too #### high; putting swapped trailers oos also makes you less likely to get swaps

It sounds to me like they think having you doing swaps during your ten is an acceptable thing to ask you to do. It sounds to me you know that is completely bs. Don’t worry about the “I do anything my boss tells me to do” crowd. They have always existed and always will. Tell em if they don’t squeeze enough work out of you in 14 hours to find another driver.

I'm so lost. Swapping what? Trailers? Loads? Lot lizards?

Does it matter? What ever it is it gives the OP a case of the guilts about not coming out of SB to do it...
