I would say yea, it matters. Swapping hookers doesn't need to be logged, swapping trailers and loads does.
The one thing I always do is make sure all trailer swaps are done on duty. Because I had a dispatcher once tell me "Unless you can show Jesus himself came down and helped you, all hardware moving around needs to be loggable on duty where a DOT guy can see where and when each trailer was swapped."
Now, when I swapped trailers off duty I just logged it on duty when I woke up for the day.
