    Exactly.

They may offer more pay per mile.
But more home time means fewer miles per week on average.
Every time you take a home time means 2 weeks of less than average pay because of the ins and outs of the place in question.

Your best bet is to go with a company that has consistent freight where ever you might be.
That is a dice toss, at best.
Even the largest companies have slow areas.

Starting out man National Carriers is a good company. Within the first 6 mos. You'll make .40 cpm 6 mos. After that .41cpm some guys been driving years and don't make that a lot of drivers make more than that but it's great starting out. You'll drive new trucks with apu fridgerators, you'll have consistent freight and go home as requested every time guaranteed. U maybe a day or 2 early or late but u get home w/o the bs..next me if I can answer any questions

lumper fee is what you pay to have someone unload your trailer. Most grocery warehouses have lumpers.Walmart DC also does. What to ask the recruiter is will you have to pay for a lumper then get reimbursed or does the company have checks the driver uses.

As was stated above, be honest. Also never downplay your abilities/skills. As well, never try and BS and tell them you know it all. Truth comes out eventually.

My last interview I was asked a lot of "psycological" questions. Stuff like conflict resolution and "how well do you get along with others" type stuff.

Lumpers are the biggest extortion scam going. I used to fight small foodservice companies all the time and won every time! Supermarket DC's however your not winning that one. But in my case the company paid them and then billed the shipper for it.

Last one I went to the guy was trying not to fold, he did but he tried. After he told me it was $60 to unload and restack me I literally laughed in his face and asked him if he was going to unload the truck or was I leaving with it, he looked at me like I was nuts. So I explained to him that "I" wasn't going to pay HIM for his warehouse to do THEIR jobs. Wasn't my problem and that I had no issues at all leaving with the stuff that HIS company paid for. Luckily my company was cool with us doing that unless it really failed and then we'd call in and make it look like we were getting "special permission" to pay and they'd give us a comcheck for it. But luckily I never lost but again smaller scale companies cant loose loads, a major chain will wave to you as your driving away, they could care less.
