    Nothing like that actually.

International has a horrible horrible horrible mechanical track record with their motors.

The good news; because of this you can buy a newer inter-trashional truck dirt cheap and swap the motor out for a Cummins now that there are kits available!

There are other issues with International trucks though from poor engineering.

Windows being opened on the pro star going down the highway is a prime example.... The engineering is so poor, most can't close them again until they stop the truck! Lots of other things.... As a whole though, International is a VERY POORLY Engineered truck.

In the modern era, that can be summed in pretty much one word.... Maxxforce.

Many moons ago International did make good, solid, durable truck, like this one...

On a smaller scale, you had the S-series that used the DT466 engine. Those were solid as well.

The modern incarnations such as the Prostar aren't worth a crap, IMO.

The 9900i and ix are solid trucks. I drove one for a year while i looked for my Kenworth. Right from the start it felt familiar. I drove it for 3 months before i figured it out. To drive it that '05 9900 was my '82 Transtar. The only limiting factor on the new ones is the powertrain.

One issue several of our drivers discovered with the Prostars is getting locked out. Apparently when you close the door, even after making sure it's unlocked, you won't be able to open it after closing it.

My old buddy Muff-lo used to have a big hardbound coffee table book, History of International Trucks.
Loved the big Oil Field 4X4 monsters. Great to see their history all in one place.
"Corn Binder" he'd say as we passed one. MY God; how far they have fallen.
