All depends on the commodity and the rate on it. Logistics generally commands a higher rate the standard dry freight.

 

...It is NEVER about the ''miles'' here at L/S.I only turned 2800 on the hub.I had plenty of ''hours left''.It is all about the rates the loads pay..It takes a while to get that ''miles theory'' out of our heads when you come to L/S..For instance.

I do a run to Brooklyn Ny that is only 330 miles and it pays $2,200...You see now..???..

 

Exactly.....as you gain experience you will find if you can build a niche for yourself with a few agents you can do extremely well. This takes time and persistance, just keep working at getting yourself known and let the agents know what you can do and what kind of equipment you carry...I do email blasts to 15-20 every time I move so they know where and when I will land next....the more notice you can give them the better....many agents run a load board first in first out type, others will load those they know can do the job first, others may just use whoever calls first.....it will take some time.....the best thing I can say to get started is to keep very good notes and develop a list of go to first agents as well as a "Ok if I have to" list and a definite "Do Not Haul For" list. I don't know how much demand there are for teams on the platform side but I would imagine some of the highest dollar sensitive stuff like military, aerospace and A&E might demand such services.

 

I've turned $13k in 5 days easily. Just have to maximize profits and space. With the SD, the top 10' is always an extra LTL away from making a $2.50 mile load into a $4 mile load. I try to utilize as much space of the trailer as I can and fill it up.
