Truckerjo,
Did you buy this setup? I thought it must be a crazy idea when nobody responded to my post on idling alternatives thread. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...e/14587-idling-alternitives-7.html#post466103
Well, maybe we both are??? Anyway hoping to get some feedback about inverters/generators for air conditioners. I am also having a hard time finding a portable air conditioner (other than a battery/ac adapter air conditioner that looks a little iffy), that doesn't weigh over 60lbs and take up so much space AND has a warranty! Not asking for much, am I?
That seems pretty cheap for an air conditioner, about $300 to 600 cheaper!

The Honda generators are very quiet also.
Something else to consider though, you're going to have to carry gasoline with you. That's hazmat. Unless you're an O/O your company might not think too fondly of that. -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you be able to fill up at the truck stops, which would take care of that dilema? Would it be considered hazmat in the tank or only carried in the truck?? -
well i have done some looking around and found a unit that rated at 500 watts ?...
my idea is to hook it up too the inverter and run it off the batteries,
too keep the batteries charged i figured to run jumper cables from the refer
can anyone find any holes in this idea? ............... -
On a side note I might want a smoke alarm just in case the wires short. -
LOL...........

I saw a Swift company slave doing it this way 2 weeks ago. -
Hey Brickman, do we need to read between the lines on this one????
