The 3g version will be coming out later on this month. The 3g version will have GPS as well. The iPhone isn't capped, the Ipad probably won't be either.

Actually, I don't think it's a bad device at all for a driver. You'll be able to watch movies on it, look up addresses and get directions, and just about anything the iPhone can do, only with a bigger screen. Not everyone wants or needs a laptop, and this is a great device for those kind of folks.


As for flash, that's the reason I hope the iPad takes off, even though I won't be buying one. I'm a linux guy, and the linux version of flash is just plain awful. There is a alternative to flash, the new html5. It's a lot faster, and a lot easier on your computer's resources. This is what Apple wants everyone to switch to, and why their devices don't support flash. It's too hard on the processor.

If you want to try html5, go to http://www.youtube.com/html5 with a google chrome browser and click "join beta." The go back to youtube's top page and click a video. It's still in beta, so you can't blow it up full screen yet, but you'll see it uses a LOT less ram than flash does. To get it back to flash, click on that same link above and click "leave beta." Anyhow, this is what we all will be using eventually, and it will be come about a lot sooner if this iPad takes off.

 

Last I checked the 3GS was $200 and the 3G was $100.
