I gave up on Windows based computers and bought my MacBook Pro in July last 2010. Here it is nearly 16 months later and it works just as good as day one. I've had my 3GS for 2 years, only replaced a couple months ago under the AppleCare package I bought because of connectivity probs in my area.

Yeah, I like things that work a while.

I am getting a chuckle out of this. It is a good feeling, though, to know we all have so many choices to choose from. There is no "one size fits all" solution to phones, computer, or any other electronics. There are no two Android phones alike and non of the Android phones are like an iPhone. I like the Apple products, and have no problem if others want to take pot shots at Apple. I tried Android on a Samsung Epic 4G. There was a couple of features I liked about it over the iPhone, but the iPhone gives me more of what I want and need. Part of my satisfaction with the iPhone came partly due to switching carriers. The Samsung was under Sprint, and my iPhone is under Verizon. Were I mostly operate, I get far better service from Verizon. Maybe an Android phone under Verizon might have worked just as well for me, but I am more than satisfied with the iPhone so there will be no finding out in the near future.

Besides, now that I have an Apple Air notebook, and Apple iMac, and an Apple iPhone, I like that they sync all my data among all these smoothly. They definitely work and play well with each other, more than any thing I have ever had in the past. Call Apple what you want, but they do make some pretty unique devices and provide a lot of really good software for free. And having a lot of software available at the App store for phones, pads, notebooks, desktops that can quickly be downloaded and running is a real plus.

Great argument here, but it's all about choice, right? I ponied up the money for a Macbook a few years back and was sold right off. Then last month right before the 4S came out they were having such a good deal on the 4 I couldn't say no.

The only negative on window based phone it seems from user I've talked to is the apps or lack there of.

Again, Kwantz, it isn't about sheer power per buck that makes points for Apple. It is the entire experience. Apple makes products that are virtually frustration free and bullet proof. And they include a lot of software out of the box that most Windows users would have to pay extra for. Just about all the software, even from third parties, works and plays well with each other. The hardware from screens, to keyboards, to touch pads are some of the best available across the entire Apple lineup. This is what impresses most consumers. Apple never has marketed it's products with the "we are the most powerful system available" type mindset. That isn't what they are about. Except on the Mac Pro side of things. There is a lot of professional video editing that is done on Mac by the studios. But the Mac Pro is not what most people buy. Not very many users need 8 cores or more of processing power. And that system cools itself just fine. It is a traditional tower setup with slots for putting in whatever video card and whatever you want.

For the average, and I reiterate AVERAGE, user, the consumer product line from Apple offers a better overall experience than most other products. Only a percentage of users get into using stuff that is a cooling issue. It is hard to dispute that Apple, for the last few years, has just about topped any other computer name in overall sales. The word is out, and the general populace likes what Apple has. The INITIAL cost of the product may be higher than a compatible equipped product from a competitor, but over the lifespan of an Apple product, the overall cost is very compatible or less. I have never seen Microsoft offer a full blown upgrade to Windows at $29.95. But Apple has provided OS X Lion for that price. And just download and install with no hassle. And the software that Apple provides with each unit, one would have to buy for most Windows based systems, and I would be willing to bet that compatible software would add $200-$300 to the price. And if someone has dealt with Windows when it comes to networking, getting all their other computers and peripherals talking nicely with each other, the Apple experience speaks for itself. There is no other operating system and hardware that seamlessly works together, even with third party peripherals. And all one has to do is experience OS X Lion compared to Windows products. No contest. OS X offers features that make the experience very unique. It is but a twinkle in the eye at Microsoft.

No, Apple is not for everyone. But most people that go with Apple never regret the move. Apple doesn't have to be the cheapest out there. If they weren't delivering what consumers want, they wouldn't be selling the stuff. My wife can attest that we try and get the most value out of every dollar we spend. But even she would agree that you would have a hard time taking her iMac and iPhone from her. And I will stand by my Macbook Air and iPhone as well. We have never had any combination of products that do everything we want and more. The initial sticker may shock some, but the value is there.

I had MS do one of their famous update in the middle of the night when I have no updates set. My HD SD Card reader now only reads 2gb. So, I went online to Toshiba and downloaded the driver again. Not the first time MS did this. This time the driver did not install correctly. I tried to uninstall and it was hung. So, I called Toshiba TS and asked them the name of the driver so I could delete it out of the registry. His solution - reformat the hard drive and rebuild it. I asked him is this is general response and he said yes. I told him he was an idiot. I then went to restore and found the "big" update and restored to a time period before,,, amazing how it is still working 11 months later.

Mac's are nice, but I keep trying to do the right click...

Interesting talk I was listening to on a podcast about Siri, apple stores what you tell Siri so it can learn and adapt. Thing is it may one day be used against you, for example you ask it "where is the best place to stab a person", somewhere down the line you get detained for something, they could look at your Siri queries. Like they often look up google searches, eg Casey Anthony's pc. Just another crazy thing to think about.
