Wrong. IHOP is far better than any Denny's. You can't beat the taste of their pancakes and they do serve pretty good dinners too.
eventually, they are all the same. 1 black bear will be serving the same menu as another location. so you ride the merry-go-round food menu no matter what, and will sicken and tire of them as well. truck stops simply stopped "catering" to truckers decades ago, in favor of families that are not loud mouths in the dining area, are generally cleaner and smelling better, and better tippers, than truckers.
Black bear diner had good food when they were a small joint now they will just be another chain at the trucks and the quality will go down
When I lived near a Country Pride, a few of us would meet up once a week or so for lunch there. Get an entrée off the lunch menu with the AYCE salad bar, and we usually ate our fill for $10 or less. I just looked on the maps, and it would appear that the T/A in Las Cruces eliminated the CP restaurant. I have been to a BBD once. It was OK, but not worth the price IMHO. IHOP is just plain overpriced; a breakfast combo is usually in the $15-20 per person range. I'll take a Denny's any day of the week over IHOP.
even with out my senior citizens discount, the Mrs and i can have a very good "deluxe breakfast" of hotcakes, eggs, sausage patty, hash brown, and coffee for $7.00 each of us....and no tipping any "fast food" eatery makes generally the same foods, and if we look at the 18 wheeler delivery trucks..?? many places are owned by a corporation, rather than an individual. the Mrs and i have "found" at least 3 mom & pop breakfast places (breakfast all day, all night) that has a "blue plate special" for like $3.99..2 eggs, any way you want them, toast, bottomless coffee, sausage or bacon, and great waitresses........ a pleasure to TIP them. in the end, unless we seek out finer places to eat, we are all subjected to the corporate ways of what they think we want, not what we REALLY want. profits over anything else, otherwise next week...?? another name change.
I can't lie I felt a little cheated the first time I got an omelet at IHOP and it had a bunch of hashbrowns in it, especially since it comes with hashbrowns as a side also. When I double checked the menu the next go around it looked like that was how all the omelets are. If that's your thing, I get it. For me, I'll pass. On a positive note, the ice was cold in the drink.
