Do you check off the box:

IFTA distances used in reporting actual distances accrued?

I did use IFTA for the miles.

I don't know if that can complicate things?
I thought that is what actually makes it really easy.

I did renew online. The info I asked above wasn't required. I did process it. But it seems that the fees went up? It's $2,470 for the renewal. I only had 15,000 miles since I started to operate at the end of March of 2020. Then there was the lockdown for almost two months. It seems wrong to pay almost $2,500 for the miles driven.
Before the previous year cost me about $2,000. So, they might have raised the fee by 25%? Are you all ready for this? Man, it went up during the pandemic.

In Michigan, along with the above noted mileage from past 4 quarters.( Taken from IFTA records) they require a paid 2290, proof of insurance, and a copy of Lease agreement if you’re Leased onto someone else. You may need to set up an online IRP account. I had to in Mi. I needed a pin# from them, mailed to Me in order to access IRP online. Once it’s set up, it’s a breeze renewing. Having DOT#, EIN# ready if needed. Your IRP# and IFTA#s should be on last yrs copies of IRP and IFTA filings. In short, Only difference on form is mileage amounts. Illinois may be different, but it’s something you can easily do yourself. Main thing is to have actual miles, if not, they may use estimated miles, and that can be very expensive. Using the wrong mileage, by guessing, as many do, could be a problem if ever audited, since IRP miles won’t match IFTA miles. I’ve made minor mistakes in the past, on miles and just let it ride. Never been audited.
