Asking if you should leave May to go with Werner is like asking if you should jump off a cliff or off a bridge.
Check out places like Craigslist and find a good small local outfit. I drive for a contractor at FedEx Ground and he just hired a kid that had 6 months in to run team. He averages about 800-900 a week take home. I'm on a short dedicated there and bring home 800 a week on 2250 miles.
This is the slow period of trucking in general. Everything will be slow. Try to stick it out until spring and then something better.
is 350 a week normal?

Stay with it Tim. You are a new driver. Freight is slow right now for a couple months. It's inventory time for many companies.
Large companies like that, usually there are 2-4 drivers in any one area. As loads come out, guess who will get the best one? The driver that has been there awhile. You only been in the truck 6 weeks.
Your paychecks are going to be a rollercoaster ride for awhile. I would hang tough for atleast 6 months or you'll make finding your next job hard. Then you'll be right back in the same shoes.
Develop a good relationship with your dispatcher and deliver on time. Drivers quit everyday. It doesn't take long to get some seniority and on your dispatchers good side. Then you'll start seeing you getting better loads and more miles.
Sometimes driver/dispatchers relationships don't click. Then you talk to the operations manager and get a new dispatcher. Recruiters lie all the time and everywhere. You can't count want they tell you.
I remember when I started, I made squat for 7 months. Just enough to survive and pay the loan back. Then I changed companies and things done nothing but started getting better. At one year it gets better. At two years, you can start calling the shots. You just have to go through the rigamaroo to get there. Keep a positive attitude and prove yourself. It won't happen overnight.thehornet and airforcetoo Thank this.
