And walk it did. The 1st truck I drove was a 1963 IH R-190 gas job, 5x3 tandem axle, with rubber pad walking beam suspension. The bushings were so wore out, on turns, the inside of the drive tires would rub on the frame.

It's a great engine. If fuel cost wasnt a concern, i would say it's the best engine ever made. But having to factor fuel cost in, i gotta rank it 2nd best behind the fuel sipping 12.7. Now if fuel every drops back to 80 cpg like it was in the mid 90s I'll be yanking this detroit out and slaping my cat in.

Oh it is. But compared to 7.5 to low 8's that i get with the detroit...for me it's all about how much money i put in the bank. Even on my part time work schedule running 60k miles a year, the less i spend on fuel the more goes in the bank, after all kids aint cheap.

Hey did you ever put the wing on that you got off our friend in Tennessee?

You guys got springs and rubber blocks? Man were you spoiled.

Another driver and I took the walking beam truck bobtail to Washington last year from Montana. We knew it was going to be rough but the passenger seat is not air ride.
