I started when I was 55.

I'm 38 and just getting into it. I'm mid range for my class (graduate 14th of July). What made me post on this thread though, the class ahead of me there was a man and wife, he was 70 and she was a 68 year old school teacher! 42 is definitely not to old!

Yes!
I'm a 25 year old in a 48 year old's body... -
At 42 you may just be old enough. I'm 63 and just starting. I see lots of mid-40's that look and act older than I. As said above it may be all about the gene pool. Like others who discriminate about age I've not met many 20-somethings that I would consider mature enough to be safe drivers.

Wow 63 and just started driving I hope to be retired by then.

Good to read all of the reply's. I'm 49 and getting closer each day to taking the plunge! If I wasn't currently employed I would already have started but it seems like my bosses have esp or something because anytime I get close to leaving it seems like my job gets easier and the hours even better but if I start thinking about planning on staying a bit longer for finish out the year then sure enough the crap starts flowing. Go figure!

okay.so what is the OP trying to infer here? that 42 is old or something?
that is right at middle aged so i must be a senior citizen at 51. damnnnnnn. oh well.I'm running a hare scramble this weekend on my dirtbike. bet ya that most 42 years can't keep up with me-

I'm 44 and unfortunately turning 45 in September. If you're in pretty good shape and not lazy, you'll do just fine. I was a machinist for 20+ years. I started my truckin' career January of this year. Went to school for 8 weeks, trained for 3 weeks, now I bring home $800 per week and get to sleep in my own bed 3 to 4 nights every week. I know it's not much $ to some people, but it's better than a lot of jobs. In hindsight, I should've started driving 20 years ago. You won't regret it if you get with the right company. The best advice I can give you; do a lot of research before you start!
Porthos Thanks this. -
Driver, you've got the wrong idea right here.......gently progressing in years is usually seen as a plus.......

As opposed to the alternative, that is.....
