I dunno about that; I started with Crete in July. We have to match our logbooks to Qualcomm positioning, within 7 minutes. That's probably a result of the wreck you're talking about.
I once had 9 minutes left on my 14 hours according to my calculations at a place where I was dropping 1 loaded trailer and hooking onto another. All I wanted to do was hook onto it and go about 2 miles to a truckstop.
Night dispatch wouldn't give me the pickup numbers until after I sat still for 10 hours because they thought I was 6 minutes over on my 14. Probably because I started my day by sending in my previous day's hours, then going inside for restroom and coffee before coming on duty for my pre-trip inspection.
They have also audited my logs at least twice since I started. I've been 100% clean every time.
Several times, I've gotten load assignments that I couldn't pickup or deliver on time legally. This is because the computer allegedly only knows what I had on my 70 when I sent in my hours in the morning - and it knows nothing about what I've already done today. I handled those situations by doing exactly what they told me to do in orientation: reply with a free-form message telling them that I either couldn't pickup or deliver on time legally, and telling them when I could legally pickup and/or deliver. Every time, they've done one of three things: Adjust pickup and/or delivery time, arrange for another truck to repower the load en route, or take me off that load and give me one I can legally pickup and deliver on time.
I've found that I like running 100% compliant. I never have to worry about being caught driving over hours and I'm always well-rested. And because I'm on the General Mills dedicated account, I still turn in as many miles as I feel like driving (usually well over 3000 paid miles/week). It's 90+ percent drop/hook with long pickup and delivery windows, and I'm almost always preplanned a load or 2 in advance. I don't know about the national board at Crete, but this dedicated operation is the best thing since sliced bread.
Is any one turning miles??

Started in Lansing Monday morning with 1545, hard run down here to Laredo and dropped yesterday afternoon for another 1545. My partner and I aren't doing too badly at the moment, getting ready to pick up here in Laredo and head to Michigan: 1853 miles one way after stop-offs, delivers friday morning with a re-load back down here. Scan that trip in before Friday at midnight and it makes 4800 miles for the week. Third week in a row.

Well I aint happy... I done 3100 this week.
I was ready to come home at 2400.
I wonder why it is when you want/need miles, nobody can find them. When you want to sit at home, you got freight coming at you from 4 directions -
Only got 2934 miles this week. Had to take a break because one of our drivers crashed his truck and I had to pick him up and head to home. Kinda got used to those 3500 mile weeks. Seemed like I had a lot of time off this week.
