If your getting 1.70-2.00 p/m is that flat or reefer. I have trucks making 2.00 a mile going out of california to wa. and or. on a dedicated acct. but coming back the only thing i can find is 1.15-1.25 p/m + fs/c(which doesn't help much). Believe me I don't like taking it but I can't always deadhead these guys back it's over 700miles, but I have done it. I wont take anything less than that. We run reefers daily up there so if you know of brokers or customers who actually pay let me know!

This CHEAP FREIGHT and HIGH COST OF FUEL is just frickin ridiculous!!

Actually, I run an average of 2,000 miles per week, I haul $4.95 per mile going out and $5.50 per mile coming back. No touch and it only weighs about 3,000lbs.
Plus the shipper pays my fuel bill every week regardless of what the cost. [IMG]

If you believe that, I have a 2004 Freightliner I would like to sell you. [IMG]

    Hello everyone ,

I was reading the post last night and see alot of people ready to do something about the fule prices . But then I hear a few talking about waiting until June ?

I dont know about you , But If we wait until June there are going to be alot of trucks out of bussiness . I myself might be one of them . I have gone from $500 - $600 a week in fuel to $1500 - $2000 a week . After all my dedutions I am down to minimum wage . I might as well go work at McDonalds .

We need to get organized and do this . Not just a hand full of us . If we are NOT United we are wasting our time . As I said yesterday . You guys that are scared , you can strike now or lose your trucks later . The trucking companies or the government could careless about the Owner Operator . They look at it as truckers are a dime a dozen

We need to come together and figure what we need to fix the problem , Not a quick fix !!! I mean put our heads together as professional truckers and come up with a solution that is gonna last .

    1. We need to get the FSC that companies are already paying passed on to us and not the brokers pocket .

    2. We need to send a message to DC that without the trucks the country will stop . I keep hearing that the government will allow Mexican trucks to come in and haul . Please , They cant do a 1/8 of what we do .

    3. We need to let the oil companies and the rich on the stock market know how it feels to lose money , I PROMISE you 3 days of the trucks shut down and the oil companies and stock certificate holders will be hurting like we are .

4.And while we are at it . We need to let the shippers and receivers know we are tired of the BS , The dock fees , lumper fees , all that should be handled by the receiver .

That is 4 things we can shoot for to get their attention .

Please let me know where you stand , I am not the smartest man But I know what I need to keep on truckin !!!! Let get together

    Willie

i agree wholeheartedly.....but it takes time to orginize

i only thru out june becuase i feel that would be sufficiant time to get everyone on board.....heck i highly dought the 12,000+ members of this forum check it every week, let alone every day......and not to mention the 1,000's of other drivers we will need to make sure it works

besides there are still a few dummy's who dont think $4.00/gal fuel is hurting them that badly

but i agree....the sooner the better

Here is something I am not getting. We pay for the high fuel, the ones who have their own authority have to pay IFTA taxes quarterly, why?? We are double paying just to go into a state for that fuel....After we also have paid for our DOT # and each states different in price.... hmmmmm

the fuel you buy has a tax on it, when you do your ifta's (monthly or quarterly) the amount of fuel you bought in that state offsets what you pay for ifta tax in that state

there are way to many fee's taxes and other garbage in this industry....but believe you me fella.....they are goin up as state lawmakers see us as the proverbial cash cow

After talking to and listening from a lot of folks here, on the CB and from the truck magazine I was looking at today I learned that there are many many shippers flat out refusing to raise their rates. Short of parking the trucks and having them repoed what choice do we have with shippers being like this?
