Dang. Ok, thanks. I guess I'll scratch Averitt off my list.

That makes no sense to me, but I worked for Swift so maybe the system is different.

Being OTR means you are working all over the country, not just around your home terminal.
At Swift, the loads were planned based on which part of the country I am in, or going to be in when I deliver the load.
It doesn't matter how many drivers are at a given terminal because they are always spread out across the country and being planned by people all over the country.

They were planned by the planners at various terminals around the country, or sometimes the computer thingy.
They were not planned by my driver manager, or as some call them the dispatcher.

Don't know about Averitt, but at Swift (as an OTR driver) the terminal you are based at has no impact on the loads or miles.
(Except maybe for home time. Some places are easier to get in to and out of.)

Averitt is equipped to do a random breathalyzer at any Averitt terminal (Service Center).

Explaining Nashville OTR, there is only so much OTR freight Averitt brings or sends to/from Nashville. If you have a lot more trucks based in Nashville than freight you can't average 2500 miles per week for each truck. Remember AVRT is a 5 day a week outfit because almost every driver is home almost every weekend. EVERY AVRT truck is parked at a AVRT facility every weekend. Smaller Service Centers like Asheville, Montgomery, and others the OTR drivers get all the miles they want. They might only have 10-20 OTR drivers. Nashville might have 200 drivers. So they aren't setup to keep a Chicago OTR driver in Nashville over a weekend except for truck breakdown. There might be a very few drivers out over a weekend, there are some dedicated accounts, like PODS, where your schedule is what the customer dictates, not Averitt. Also AVRT is mostly a Southeast & Midwest company, not a 48 state OTR mega company. It began as a regional LTL company and added OTR and dedicated later. It has OnTour Logistics where drivers move concert, commercial/TV & trade show, gear for months at a time. They have some of everything, but they aren't primarily a national OTR outfit like Swift.
