If I send a message via QCom that is not answered in the time I expect, I simply dial my phone and talk to a real person.

95% of the time, that works great.

The problem with "gifting" as I see it is your rewarding someone for doing what there already paid to do.

I totally agree. To "gift" a dispatcher is useless.

If you think your company is ignoring you, they are not. THEY DO HAVE other driver's, and employee's.
To me, this signals that they TRUST YOU and YOUR JUDGEMENT.

Also, when you DON'T hear from them??

It means you are "flying under the radar".

Which would you (the o/p) rather have, a constant barrage of people on your back, or peace and quiet??

I been in this crappy industry going on 25 years now. I kinda know how things work.

Holy cow. Are there nothing but daycab drivers and good ol boys in this thread?

I've never been in the same state as most of my DMs, much less ever met or BRIBED one.

If you ask a question, keep in mind the time of day. Most companies only keep a skeleton staff outside of bankers hours, and they're only there to handle emergencies.

Also, at a larger company, the DM likely won't know anything about the shipper, receiver, load, your truck, regulations, the route, or anything that wasn't included in your load message. They just do grunt work for the load planner through their fleet manager, and that was all handed down from the broker, who doesn't know anything that wasn't in their load info to begin with.

If you have a question, you're probably better off keeping the number of a smarter or more experienced driver on your account. They've likely been through a similar situation, or will at least be able to help you reason through it.
