Hi! Right now im at a private owned schoolbus company. The favorite boss died last weekend and leaves us the crappy lying boss. I know the bs is gonna fly starting next month and the trailer trash friends of the crappy boss are gearing up for their dogsh** crap. I know i plan on getting into trucking and relocating to the southwest. Im in Chicago now (hate the winters here royally) I was thinking of PAM Transport, i have a buddy who been working for them for a few years. He is doing very good with them. I have read some scary stuff about them too. I need to upgrade my license to a Class A and get airbrakes and semi trailer experience and get HazMat too. Im looking for a company that has a school and can help me upgrade my CDL (i been driving a schoolbus for 13 yrs now.) I am thinking longhaul and being on the open road. Hate the crowded big city and #######es in the cars that think nothing of big vehicles including schoolbuses-i drive the 71 and 77 passenger bus. I plan on doing this by the late winter--around in April the latest. Any suggestions?

Not into the trucking, not just yet. Had 2 uncles that did it and retired from the business back in the mid 90's. They told me they had 18 speeds and 13 speed trucks. One of my uncles told me the best he had was the 70 Mack with the 13 speed in it. It could pull anything and it can pull any trailer with brakes locked full on too. That meant it could go uphill with full loads with no problems. He told me the stuff thats out now, is crap. He also said the 63 Mack was like a locomotive and it got the job done everytime. He also said the 76 Kenworth with the 400 Cat motor in it was good too but at the time, very expensive. He told me, a truck with manual steering, manual trans and plenty of power and geared right would be good but he want me to go be a owner/operator and i cant afford that for now. Do any of the trucking companies out there have good reliable trucks out there? Are the automatic trans trucks good or do they break down more all the time? I want to learn the old style 13 speed shifting.
