I've notice *almost* every trucking company I've ever heard of is using Driver Pulse for different things. It's garbage and I'm wondering why..

It insecurely stores SSN and other data and pretty much freely passes it out to companies you talk to that use the system..

    How are the SSNs stored?

They have recruiters in the system for everything from U.S. Express and C.R. Enlgand to YRC and ABF and EPES and you basically track applications and processing with it. It may do other stuff too.

plain text in app cache and under TLS streams. Probably in their database too.. Recruiters in the system can get all the data, and I'm not sure what they need to have to pull it.

If the recruiter can pull your data with the SSN that's just as bad cause it's more places it's going over the wire and more endpoints too.. If a recruiter pulls you with your SSN and they have malware you're screwed..

Same problem if they pull you with license number cause it still has to have SSN for their PSP stuff..

It isnt considered secure unless the information is hashed. Simply encrypting it sending it through TLS (a transportation protocol) isn't enough.

I do know some programs, apps to this day are still doing it, even though it gets better every year.

If it's hashed it should be secure.

Emailing it all over the place is another story. Lol

Hashing with something like SHA3 in a database table with a salt to avoid "rainbow tables" is the only place hashing would help. Even without email there are recruiters on endpoints inputting SSN and DLN and their networks and patches are probably as competent as they are..

My recruiter failed to "pull me up" about five times and dumped people she put on hold a few times too.. Must be a golf buddy hire..

Driver Pulse... that's a carrier hiring program, like Mirror Fog.

Yeah, salting & rainbow tables. I knew all about that #### at one time. Took a lot of computer science and got security+ certified. My God I've forgotten so much of that. It was long ago.

Anymore my head is filled with pre trip stuff, pick up locations, computer games, a bit of finance, and tons of useless junk like how fast mice can run, and memorized Star Trek episodes.

I'll just take your word on it, then.
