Is freight brokerage a dying industry

To underscore my comment from yesterday, this is what the dock manager at Costco told me this morning at 0400:

"SWIFT's customer service SUCKS!...they had a truck not even show up last night with product we needed!"

It was music to my ears

Yet, Costco will continue to do business with SWIFT because they have capacity.

 

He has a otr truck that he can use that is 16 speed and a tanker truck that is a 8 speed

 

What do you mean he can "use" it?

 

Apps are convenient but what happens if a big problem arises? I've used Convoy a few times to book loads, but who do you talk to if problems arise? The one time I called them about a load problem, I think I was talking to an answering service guy, and nobody even bothered to all me back. I don't see brokers going away for that reason; shippers and carriers both need someone responsive to solve problems.

 

lol no more then owner ops are a dying breed. I see tons of both popping up daily.
