Yes indeed. Off to TN this AM. Been running hard eating up the 70 lately then getting thru the house for reset. Lots of midwest regional recently. Got 2 of my 10hr brakes at home last week. Still had almost 3000mi.

Thanks 5wire talked to Gary in recruiting last week. He said if I was hired on I would run the Northeast Regional. He said 2400-2800 miles a week. Know anything about this region? Do you think I could ask to go OTR? Is that mileage average?

So, do they still run cabovers? If not, what kind of tractors?

OK, nevermind----i went to the site----they have freightliner centuries.

I drove for HOW back in 2004. I went there after leaving CRST (Crash and Roll Stunt Team). While I was there, they wanted to start doing some driving teams. I teamed up with another new driver who just happened to live 10 miles away from me in NY. We were suposed to go to NE NY. Can't remember the town. Drop & hook, then off to Appleton,WI. D&H, then off to Flagstaff, AZ. D&H, then off to Los Angelos. D&H, back to Flagstaff. D&H, back to Appleton. D&H, back to Central NY for Hometime (weekends). Then do it all again next week. Instead they ran us like a solo driver. We would leave a shipper with at the same time as another HOW driver. Team drive straight through to receiver. While waiting 5-12 hrs for our appt. time to arrive, the other HOW driver would show up at same receiver. I averaged 640 mile a week there. This only counted times my butt was in driver seat. No hometime or 34 hr reset included. Drivers have to bring their truck to Amherst,WI every 90 days for maint. We were there every 30 days fore the same repairs. Took them 3 tries to finally fix the Opti-Idle. I would wake up freezing after 2 hrs sleep to start truck 6 times to warm it up inside. I say 6 times because it would shut off after idling a while. No real sleep during Dec, Jan, & Feb. Our truck needed brake repairs while out. Upon returning to Amherst, I requested mechanics look at brakes as the steering wheel & front end would shimmy while braking medium to hard. I suspected we got new warped drums during previous sevice stop. They said brakes were OK. Gave my 2 weeks notice when took truck out after their inspection & truck still shimmied. That' my life in that truck.

I have a comment earlier in this thread that still rings true, see page 2. The Amherst yard in WI is the training facility and company terminal. I have 9 months in with HOW and am quite happy with my choice. I see your from TN. We run a lot of freight to Volunteer and this could help with home time often. I have been running 2500-3000 miles lately. Yet still getting through the house every week. I run my clocks and rules right to the limit as quick as possible then get to the house for my 34hour reset. This works for me.
