Little update: Well I am happy to say I was accepted by Roehl and will be going to their school soon. The main reason I decided to go with them were the hometime schedules they offer, I am going to be doing the 14 on 7 off hopefully after I complete training. I probably would of tried to apply with Schneider since they have a big terminal here and they offer the same type of time off schedules Roehl does, but Schneider doesn't do CDL training anymore and even more importantly Schneider trucks don't have EPU's/APU's that is a major drawback as far as I am concerned. I ended up not even applying anywhere else except Roehl because I was very happy they accepted me, so I can't give any info about other companies as far as applying with an employment gap, but all Roehl had me do was sign a statement where I said I was not working and not looking for work during that time period and I put down I affirmed that I was not employed in a D.O.T. regulated industry or in any sort of driving job during that time.

You're in a great freight area.

If you want to work for a company where you're home EVERY weekend look at McElroy Truck Lines out of Cuba, AL. They are a regional company. It was my first company straight out of school and they have tuition reimbursement. My school was $1k (community college), once I was fully reimbursed I went looking for something with more home time and found it.
