I much prefer nights. Always have even before I began this job.
Yeah, I've seen it. I can't really remember off the top of my head if it's a violation, but if I were a LEO and saw any truck with a blown light over something that identifies them, I'd wonder what they are hiding.
Since there are quite a few of them though, guess I'd have to pick and choose my battles.
Kind of makes me wonder if those red light cameras can still pick up the plate. It's in a weird spot and not illuminated....hrm.
Is it important to fix a burned out headlight?

The red light cameras are not too strict on trucks. Because the guy that reviews those clips and pictures looks at the and throws them out.(for most part) The red light cameras are set up more for cars so the tractor is too long to capture the rear plate BUT, the front plate can be caught and you could be ticketed if they wanted to.Vilhiem Thanks this. -

One night just north of Mobile i stop for fuel and the guy next to me had a black eye i told him, he answer me back i am almost home i'll take care of that later.
We both pull out same times going south there was a state trooper sitting in the dark in the on ramp guess what, he went straight after the black eye guy.
Is it important to fix a burned out headlight......YES it is!!!
Let's make it worst since the guy was almost home let's say he did push his log a bit to make it home...
Now it's going to cost him a ticket for a burned headlight and ticket for the log...and all that was easily avoidable.
No i dont live in Mobile or even Alabama.truckon Thanks this. -

For me it's simply the fact that it just plain sucks driving on some unfamiliar 2 lane back road at night in the pouring rain with a headlight out. Even looking through a new windshield that hasn't started to glaze over yet it would drive me crazy. It's a 5 minute fix.

All the equipment on your truck, lights, brakes, air system, all supposed to be working. So, no, it's not OK to run with a headlight out. That's like waving a red flag at the bull. Get it? "Bull?" Geez.
