Is it Just Me???

Maybe I’m just a unicorn, or easier to please than the “me first and the gimme gimmes” out here, or maybe we need to take a step back and look at the real problem:

No 2 drivers are going to agree on what “the perfect job” is. We all have different needs, desires and expectations from a job. What works for one, might not work for another.

Driver A has young kids. He wants to start his shift at 8am so he has time to drop the kids off at daycare and be off by 4 to pick them up, because his wife works nights. He wants to pick up shifts on the weekend to increase his pay, while his wife is home with the kids.

Driver B plays hockey in a beer league, and has 2 evening games and an afternoon practice on Sunday. He needs to be home by 6, and needs weekends off.

Driver C has a habit of hanging out late in bars, drinking a bit too much and no mortgage, kids or wife. He wants a noon start time, so he isn’t hungover at work after watching the game.

Driver D wants to see the country with his sweetie. They don’t mind downtime in cities all over the country, because their neighbour is watching the house and they brought Cuddles the miniature poodle with them on the road.

Driver E has a pre-existing back injury which makes tarping loads and handbombing freight too painful. She wants a door swinging job and likes chatting up the workers at her customer’s warehouse.

Driver F has massive student loans hanging over his head, along with debt from a failed business venture. He only cares about the money hitting the bank right now, because he’s struggling to stay above water.

The point here? No 2 drivers will ever agree on what makes a job perfect. We all have to either make some sacrifices to make a job work, or go out and self-employ (which many small business owners would be quick to point out is FAR from perfect).

Will you trade security for freedom? Paycheques for hometime? Work horse or show pony?

 

The reason they are going to legalize pot for everything, stoned out of the mind sheep do not complain.

 

Why are you so fixated on this topic? Seriously, it’s the only subject I’ve seen you post on.
