Also might I suggest if and/or when u leave Chicago, don't go back and have this same problem. You're not making any headway no matter how good the freight pays if you're sitting for days after delivering.

Circumstances dictate procedure. You do what you have to do.

Remember spring produce is starting off good in the Southeast, even for dry vans. Everybody and their brother looking for south-bound freight.

Considering you don't have to go far away from Chicago to find a good rate, you only sit because you want to. I'll run a truck MT before taking a rate below my break-even. No use beating up the equipment and paying to do it for someone else's benefit too.

I am going to some kind of grocery warehouse. I am in Ohio now. But I have a stop in Pittsburgh and from there to Avondale and then Baltimore Monday morning. I don't have an APU and I am not digging all this toll road it looks that I'll have to take. So I am open for suggestions on ways around. Mark my words this will never happen again.

Your right I sat because I wanted too. Also had a bunch of stuff to do to the truck and trailer. The list was getting a tad long. But at any rate the freight coming out was horrible. 1200 aint getting anything refridgerated anywhere near Atlanta. Truthfully I was quite miffed. Had a quote for dry freight going to Miami at 1800. I was WTF??!!

I hear you Crazy D. What's even more funny is when brokers hype low rates into Chicago, boasting of all the high dollar freight coming out. Then, when you ask them to just send a rate sheet on that return trip too, you get "well... um... we don't have that one."

Drop south it's about 50 miles more. Avondales a second home to me. Didn't know there was a grocery warehouse there. Just mushrooms(and mushroom related). Unless you're talking about Manfredi's in Kennett Square.

Country Fresh Mushrooms, just past the scale on 41. Hauled their stuff in the mid 90's untill it became a conflict with another account. Hilltop bar next door has decent food.
