    I have to agree 100%.

Destroying his Career so early in the game for something he could do nothing about. What is he to do once he home? Hold his wife hand? Or go in a corner and cry cause they lost the baby? It was not a life threating problem for his wife, heart breaking I agree from having it happen to me, but nothing he could do at home about it. Nothing to bury, but a hospital bill to pay.

I have gone through it my self. My last wife claimed to been pregnant gave me the news during one Patrol, and the next patrol got word she had a miscarriage. I have my reasons to not believe she was pregnant in the first place, but that is a different story. At that time I was not able to go home, but does that make me cold blooded? What would I have done anyway? Nothing I could do. It would been harder for me to get home though, unlike the OP, I could not park a Truck and walk away, but maybe I could have swam for it, but the Idea of swimming in the North Atlantic in the middle of Winter does not interest me.

You are correct. For I had to go through that my self, as I stated in a precious post. But for me I would had to swim for it since I was out in the Georges Banks harassing the Fisherman as the DOT does us.

But what I heard and seen of some companies if you talk with them they will help you get home for Emergencies. As a Child I seen it with the Company my father worked for. A driver had a family Emergency, they got him home. Their only terminal was there at home, and they would be headed home anyway after they emptied out on their out bound load, but they did get them on a plane home right away. I heard of it also in Today's Trucking world. But if a Company to help, they have to know there is a problem, cause nobody can fix what they do not know is broken.

Dude you handled the situation all wrong from the jump. How much time did you give the company to get you home? It sux for you and your wife, my wife and I have been through it 3 times. You still should have let your company find you a swap or tell you where to park the truck and load to get home. I know first hand how bad it sux when something bad happens at home when you are 2000 miles away. My mom died in Dec. while I was in Wyoming, I had to driver to Ogden Ut. to get a load to get me home. Because I did it the right way my company told me to take as long as I needed when I got home.

If you report them for "making you run illegal" You may be on the paying end of a fine. It is up to you as a driver to not run illegal. You are the captain of the ship therefore the responsibility rest with you not the company.

Yes I think having a miscarriage is having a bad day. A very bad day. It's not cold harted, it's cold hard facts. It one has to run home for every little problem the family is having then one has no business in this line of work. You will not make it out here worrying about what is going on at home. It they are not dieing or in the hospital. Then it will have to wait till the next time you are home. Fact of this industry. Just like the Military. It's not a job for the weak.

Congratulations dude! I hear FFE is an alright company. Raider is the same Raider Express you left behind. Freight has been pretty constant. I'm on a load to Michigan as we speak. Bet you miss Wolverine packaging plant, lol! I still don't understand why the paychecks for Raider arn't specific regarding miles and such. Hope you enjoy FFE and take care of the family. :)
