First off, From My family to Yours. Our deepest sympathies.
I am writing this without reading other responses because with a matter like this it is important to be unswaed, sounds like You were having a rat time in the first place at this company, But it is the career that You choose to do, no one planked You into that truck to do OTR work, there are day jobs but for whatever reason You chose otr, with that being said I am sure You were and are aware of the trials and tribulations of otr life,..But it sounds like You were on the fence with these guys anyway, for whatever reason, if its HOS then fine. I was always told by my mentors to never absolutely NEVER! abandon equipment no matter what, finish what your doing and bring it back then quit, SO if I were hiring You, and I have done quite a bit of hiring over the years, I would ask You what happened with that, the DAC these day's is being used as a weapon to hurt individuals and it does. Many companys are aware of this and take what is on it with a grain of salt, we always did. But also checked any black marks by doing some homework. You did not leave that truck on the side, you brought it back, the only thing I would have done different, would have been to call first then drop it off, either way sounds like you were going to leave it and them no matter what, now, I would never tell someone to lie, but if It was me and I was at an interview and asked,"sir what happend with this AV" I would respond well I had a family emergency and needed to get home immidately, I called my DP and was told that if I left I would be terminated and charged on my DAC I told him I had to get there it was dire, they said no, so I thought the best thing was to leave the truck at their terminal and just get home, and thats how it went,.. But really I would have called first, maybe better maybe not, but definately not even close to a roadside abandonment, as far as I am concerned.

Look guys, I wasn't looking for an explanation on what I did wrong. I already know what I did was wrong. I was looking for help on what I could do to fix it. I appreciate your concerns and prayers. My wife is doing better and we are leaving the hospital. I'm thinking maybe of calling Raider and speaking to Mike Junior or Senior about it. Maybe I can salvage what I had with Raider. I have a feeling I've already burned my bridge with Raider.

Pirate, my condolences to you and your wife, but in the emergency you had, just a suggestion, have the load repowered first or make sure another driver can take it then go home, even then you could have cleaned out your truck and left, but it does sound like you left a bottom feeder of a company that needs to be shut down or shut the doors soon. I worked at a company that wasnt much, but when i was out on the road and the wife was with me and we got a call that her father had passed, i called the office and told them what happened, they said get back to the yard with the load and we will get it there, you get home and get to your mother inlaws as quick as you can. that was one good thing about a crappy company. Hope the best for you pirate, happy holidays.

Let's not give up so quick ... if there are any real human beings working for Raider, DM, safety manager, terminal manager ... anyone with some degree of power that might be willing to sit down and listen to your situation. There is always the possibility that you can work things out between the two of you. Yes ... in many cases the rules are hard and fast such as "zero tolerance and manditory dismissal", but if you can find someone with just a spark of humanity ... there is a possibility of salvaging this situation or at least getting them to ease up on the DAC report. I know that if I were dealing with a young fella facing a situation that just popped up out of nowhere and new to the profession, I might be willing to "look the other way" if I were sure that it wouldn't happen again. May work ... may not work ... but at this point, you really don't have much to lose ... I'd give it a try.

Why would you consider going back to a company you said made it impossible for you to run legally ? Don't bet some brownnosing Raider driver hasn't brought this thread to their attention . That chance will always be there . I know of a driver that lost his job because someone called his company reporting a post he made in a forum .

Nope....you walked away from a LOAD. That is "abandonment", no matter how you slice it.

I know its tough I was there still haven't got back on the road, but at the Co. I was with I called and said look I have an emergency lets route me home. My dm repowered my load sent me direct to my house 300 miles empty I unloaded the sleeper took the truck in. I just got my dac and its clean as a whistle. If had a black mark I had an attorney lined up off of the net that deals with them, but even he said it might not be possible to clear because no paperwork, just telephone calls.

No........no one said anything about you "running the load illegal"..........you ALWAYS have the right to REFUSE to run a load illegal. This is about YOU walking away from a load, which is ABANDONMENT, no matter where you slice it....
