As a woman I just got to chime in here again... It has so much been said, but ha ort of been implied and I just got to make a statment...

Don't think that the man who doesn't just quit and rush home to his wife, but instead takes the time to work it out with his DM and keep is job is not attending to his wife... I am not so independntly wealthy that my life partner doesn't need to work... I have family and friends who can support me and help me if I am in the hospital... I need my partner to work so we can pay bills, have a home, have food, have insurance, take me out for dinner and buy me flowers...
Now I realize I grew up as a military brat, I understood my dad wasn't allways there but he was always providing for us... and maybe I am not a romantic... I would rather hear, "Honey I love you, hell I worship you, but I can't be there right now but I wll be there as soon as I can and still have a job, so you relax and heal and don't worry about the bills" than to be having to heal and worry about the bills...

I don't know what it is these days, but people are just to okay with being unemployed... I don't understand that... I was and still am very proud of my dad for always providing for us, his family... I don't ever remember my dad being umemployed... He never quit a job wthout having one to replace it... He never left things to chance... and I know not all of his jobs were dream jobs and perfect... he did what he had to to always provide for his family...

I am not directing this at anyone... I just think that there are different views to the family first thing... and just because a man doesn't rush home jeopardizing his career and income doen't mean he isn't putting his family fiirst... especially if our insurance is through his job and his job his putting food on the table and a roof over our heads...

So,alot of the guys who are saying you don't abandon the load, don't up and quit, you take th time to work it through.. it in't that they don't understand a family emergency... they are the providers for their family and don't take that lightly...

 

Yea, it would have been better to not quit under load, but since it was in a secured company yard you may want to contact a lawyer.

Your wife and Kid matter more than any job. Take care of the daughter and wife they are your first responsibility. It will all fall into place in the long run.

I alway put my family first, always.

 

From a wife's POV, know that we can take care of ourselves until you can get there. You don't have to drop everything immediately to be at our sides. There's nothing that my husband could do at the hospital besides nag the doctors and pace the halls. I would much rather he take care of his load correctly than lose his job.

I do understand that you were looking to leave the company anyhow, but you've made it a lot harder to find OTR employment elsewhere. I'm hoping that you do get someone in the offices that has half a heart.

He cant put ld abandonment on your dac for abandoning a ld at the yard! hahaha. Well he can but it wouldnt be right and definitly worth disputing.

Don't let no pencil neck dispatcher treat you like that. All he knows how to do is punch those keys with his jerkers. Dptchrs..lol hehhh

You have your reasons for whatever they may be(which may be personal and therefore none of his business) and seperated from the company and dropped the ld
at the yard. If it's late, well then it's late but it's not abandonment in my opinion.

 

What do you call abandonment, jumping out of the truck while it's going down the road? No wonder these companies treat drivers like children. You agree to do something, then just walk away, not caring about anyone but yourself, then bi##h because the truth may be put on your DAC. The old saying used to be, "you do the crime, you do the time" applies here.

If there are second thoughts, swallow your pride, man up, apologize for doing something stupid during an emotional situation, ask for the job back, and swear you have learned your lession. Stay there a while longer, doing your job correctly, then quit the right way.

 

He said the dispatcher was a jerk. Maybe he didn't want to take the ld

and said hey this is whats going on, this is what has happend, these are

the circumstances, I really need to get home, i've stayed out too long

already. And maybe the dispatcher was being irrational, inconsiderate and

well just didn't care. Then he quit out of discgust and anger? Dispatchers

have too much power anyways. I still can't comprehend how someone

who has never been in a truck as so many of them haven't, can pass

judgement on drivers or ##### them out about stuff they have no clue

about. His life of 9-5 off on the weekends is alot different then that of an

otr driver. Bullies on a power trip are what most of them are.

 

A company can put ANYTHING on your DAC.......true or not and there isn't ANYTHING that you can do about it; short of taking legal action. DAC/USIS (or what ever name they are going by) has NO method for removing false information unless you can demonstrate that it is absolutely false. All THEY do is contact the origin of the information and ask if it is true. If the company answers in the affirmative, you're screwed.
