That's just it. There's no absolute.

But I want to be an O/O with a guarantee of success.

I have 0 clue what it entails but I want you to guarantee me I'll be successful.

Here's what I guarantee everyone that comes to drive under my flag, and you can ask them if I'm exaggerating-

I promise everyone they will get it shoved fully up their ### through no fault of their own on occasion.

    Still interested?

Here's what will separate the contenders from the pretenders-

    Desire.
    Attitude.

    The rest is masturbation.

The lure is many things. The main one is thinking it’s the easiest way to own a truck outright after a few years. That’s the main selling point that attracts new drivers.
What attracts many others is thinking they can skimp on their taxes and pocket more.
Uncle Sam usually catches up to them by the time the truck is paid off

To me the selling point is "....look at all the money you can make!" They don't tell you that the engine overhaul cost is 25K, then there are tires, maintenance, fuel.....oh, don't forget insurance and retirement savings.

When I looked into it they said I could make 170K. Pencil and paper says that 170K whittles down to 65K taxable profits after the truck expenses are taken out. Now, allow for insurance and retirement.....ya, no thanks. I will stay a company driver.
