Is it really that miserable?

I make an avg of 1200$ a week I am with a carrier that takes very good care of me, I like my truck, I get home when I need to be. My advice is go with your heart man if your heart is in trucking then you will be successful always try to stay positive. But in staying positive you can't go to far and ignore reality.

 

Instead id rather learn what ima need to know now, so instead of being a pissed company driver, i could be a successful O/O. Ive seen it done before and thats the goal i have for myself. People complain all day about how companies treat them and dont pay enough, if your a man i believe nothing can stop you from going into business for yourself. Its about how high you set your goals and what you do to reach them, thats the exact reason im starting now. What would be the reason of working for someone if your gonna complain about your job all #### day, i hate seeing people complain about things that they could easily fix. They just choose not to, and instead bring the people around them down

 

Here you go pratt how's this:

Being a driver is awesome! There's no boss breathing down your neck. If you deliver safely and on time you are left to your own devices.

You get to see the country. Well, you get to see the interstates and the country surrounding it, let's say that. You really won't have time for sight seeing.

You get to meet many different and colorful people, from different drivers to lizards waking you up at 2am.

You can make above average income under the right circumstances.

You get to create your own cb handle and persona to go with it. (be careful with this one goodbuddy doesn't mean the same thing anymore)

You have all the time in the world to get aquainted with yourself. Be careful you don't begin to dislike your own company.

That's some of the good things I can think of. There are plenty more. The kind of experience you have is in direct correlation to the attitude you have.

there is a trucker that records his driving and everything on Youtube. pretty nice guy from what it sounds like that knows his stuff. He uses an android phone to video the view out the front glass. If your interested in really knowing how it feels to drive watch his videos for a while with sound off full screen over and over and over.

I like your attitude, Im also a LP driver, and make great money. Alot of people say you cant make money leasing, but you can. It just depends on work ethics. You are positive about trucking. I hardly see that anymore.....

 

I believe you would be a sucessful o/o. You want to know what you need to know about trucking. If you can stand being away from home at weeks at a time, Not eating at set times nor sleeping always at night, you'll do fine. Work harder at this job then any job you ever had, Always Show respect to Driver mgr's, shippers and recievers. Deliever and pickup your loads early if you can. and if you are interested in leasing, send me a message and i can tell you some insight on it, Positive insight.

 

At least you know their telling you the truth how would you feel it they said how wonderful it was if it wasn't? Try this for an exercise next time you go somewhere and get bad service at a business just tell them how wonderful they are and see if they make any improvements to there service

 

I think it's good to get a whole bunch of perspectives, analyze what people say, and make your judgements on it. I think for some people, they just get jaded after a while, it happens to people who work in all fields, not just Trucking. I like hearing the negative as well as the positive, because it's good to keep your feet on the ground and not get too caught up in fantasy land. However, I have learned that people who don't usually say much positive often don't bring much positive to the table, and then they complain some more and the cycle continues, and it creates a "woe is me" effect. Not always but sometimes... i've been caught up in it myself.

Personally, I've been working crap jobs pretty much for 10 years doing the whole starving artist thing... ready to give it up for a "real" job. Some people are complaining about ONLY making 30-40,000 a year... I would seriously feel rich making that kinda loot. But then again, i've always lived frugal, dont' have wife or kids to support, don't really have any major bills or owe much of anything... someone who has kids and/or wife, esp. if that wife isn't working or not making much, and got used to living the high life for a while, racked up expenses after another, well... 30,000 isn't going to seem to great. So perspective is a big part of it.
