Is it scary when you are driving in Colorado?

I can't believe there's not one serious answer in here. With little or no mountain experience it can be a little scary, or intimidating. You will get plenty of warning from road signs before you get to major downgrades. Drop a gear or two to go suggested speed and use jake brake when needed if you have one. You will do fine. If you don't do these things you could be in trouble, it's no joke!

 

Yup... and with a little inquisitiveness, most folks using the search tool can find a number of threads about how to properly descend a mountain grade on this forum.

And yeah... we do like to have a little fun!

The only scary thing that I experienced with Colorado was going in without having a load booked coming out...

 

Man I love driving in Colorado, Idaho, Washington, surrounding areas. Most of the roads and straight and 75 mph. Even going downhill there are not a lot of exits so you don't have to worry about the 85 year old woman merging in front of you driving 45 mph. Even if I happen to miss a speed limit sign, if I stop hearing my engine noise I know that I am accelerating beyond my set speed. However I have been there so many times that I already know which curves to watch out for. The rest is a breeze.
