its hyper inflation carry over a result of the last carbon profiteer gouge. you know in 2008 when diesel spiked at 5.25 a gallon, every body tried pass it along down the line.Prices go up but they dont come down very fast.

true, however the statistics must be correct and they might not be. for instance load stats on the freight board are grossely inflated.

    It is a metaphor.

The guy with a big stack can bluff more effectively, steal blinds, and play a larger range than a player with a small stack.

And if the guy with the biggest stack gets to set the rules, who is likely to win?

Say you and I walk into the card room and see the setup I described. You know nothing about any of the players - which one do you think will win?

As to my job - turnover is rampant on the account. Those of us getting paid mileage have stuck around. Those getting the daily rate leave quickly as they realize the pay is not worth the work. We are losing money on the account because someone in sales undervalued the cost of labor. The fact that someone thought paying a driver $15 an hour would work is an indication of slack in the labor market.

When I perceive problems at my company I believe I am obligated to speak up. You can't assume what is obvious to you is obvious to everyone. A company that fires workers for speaking truth to power is one I wouldn't want to work for anyways.

Finally, I read "old stories" because they have value. I also read new things. I seek out opinions that are different than mine, and I try and challenge my own thoughts and beliefs. Doing so makes me stronger.

Really? But YOU NEED to use a gas station or McD or burger king or whatever pretty much EVERYDAY.. but they not worthy? That type of opinion is what kills the economy.. “EVERY” job is worthy whether you will do it or not.. but for all these unworthy jobs as you say, i would not intentionally do half of them either, but there is some guy at a fast food place (at the moment anyways) making more than a 1 ragedy truck owner op right now in this current market.

P.S. - Your broker/shipper/company looks at you in a UNWORTHY job they wont do.. but your doing it..

Back on topic.. its slow all over. Running with my broker/dispatcher now, normally kick back to OTR in Jan-Aug and float to power only with ArcBest over the winter for steady freight. Just getting slower.. hopefully the “spring” surge will kick in as they say ...

Yes. I am wrong and you are right! We need more of these worthy jobs, get people to acquire quite some purchasing power and propensity to spend to boost the economy.

Without their measly paychecks buying stuff that makes loads happen to where you have freight to pull... nevermind... ignorance is bliss...

Buying powdered Macaroni Cheese at WM and a few cans of Campbell soups, monthly subscription to HBO, not sure how much they have left after that. If McDonald gives them free lunches, that's good.

If you take tens of millions of jobs like that as an aggregate, that will make the unemployment rate below 5%. Is that the definition of economical might? I don't think so.
