A full time job that pays less than $11 an hour will qualify a person (with no dependents) for Section 8 housing and SNAP benefits in Wisconsin.
Shift leaders who are trusted with keys to the McDonalds and manage employees are not being paid enough to live without welfare benefits.
Study after study has shown that a strong, healthy middle class is key to having a healthy economy. Median income in this country is $63,000. The top 5% make $400,000. The bottom 20% make $14,000. Those are not numbers to write home about. The top 5% can only spend so much. To truly drive the consumer spending that will result in 4% annual gdp growth we need to increase the income of the bottom 30%.mladen86 Thanks this. -
You just got here with an attitude. That's not a very good sign of you. Stay civilized. They will lock this thread because you behave the way you do
As far as I am concerned, keep your wisdom for yourself. I don't need it.mladen86 Thanks this. -
Also the other day I appreciated your calm response. I got a little fired up the other night. lol.
oh... edit. Isn’t 11/hr starting wage at McDonald’s? Aren’t those entry level jobs meant as a stepping stone? Surely managers with keys make more?JonJon78, Dslmel and gentleroger Thank this. -
True, but then, thats WI, in AZ .. 2 kids, and 8hr you cant get it because you make too much.. it’s different all over, pay, unemployment, etc, but all adds to just “1” number that everything is based on and that doesn’t work. But thats how it is and as long as everyone keeps thinking that way it’ll never change. So the basic reply to main post i quoted that pretty much had nothing to do with nothing is EVERY job is worthy whether you like it or not because i am sure that guy that came to kill the roaches at your place dreamed about that job since he was 7, but it pays the bills for him and his and helps the economy regardless, hence simple factor of my reply.
And Mr T.J - if you cant take “someone else’s” opinion then dont post none.. just getting here or not does not have ANY bearing on the words said. That part right there, keep your wisdom to yourself because YOU dont want to hear it, but expect everyone to only hear what YOU say... ok..Last edited: Feb 24, 2020

The McDonalds between my house and the yard is adverting "Adult openers and closers starting pay $11". A quick google search got me this:
Opener--starting wage up to $10.50 at McDonald's | Coldwater, OH 45828
I don't know how they get $34,000 from $10.50. -

The point is that there are too many guys working at MC or killing roaches, or truck driving. These jobs are not accumulating even enough aggregate wealth, the way the national debt is galloping. The good jobs were outsourced oversees, jobs that require expertise and life long training, back in the day accessible to common people not necessarily looking for higher education. I stand by what I said. With the wage growth stagnation for the vast majority of people, there should not be any talk about great economy. Some TV heads will tell you that it is good and growing but growing for who?

What is considerd "poverty level" is open to debate. What is considered healthy for an economy is less debatable - from Neo-Marism to Neo-Classical to Keynesian to whomever else - having more than 10% of the population earning less than 1/2 the median income at least stunts economic growth and at worst leads to open revolution. At the risk of being told I "read too much old stuff"- remember Orson Wells' "Time Machine", the Eloi and Morlocks?
