Ummm alot of companies went bankrupt because of changing markets or in celadons case, because the ceo got greedy at the expense of the drivers and company overall.....greed has a knack for destroying things....
Is it slow for everyone

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

But that illustration has nothing to do with the economy or trucking.Trucker61016, D.Tibbitt and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

Truckin and other sectors of economy are connected vessels. The water represents life or well being. So any level change in either of the barrels including the downspout will cascade immediately to all other connected vessels.

That simplistic view ignores basic supply and demand principles. Demand for trucks is still high. Just look at load volume statistics over threw last several years. However the supply of trucks is much high than it has been. Load volume to truck availability is what drives rates up or down.Trucker61016, D.Tibbitt and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

Homeless has nothing to do with whether there are jobs available or not. If you don’t have a job in this economy it’s because you don’t want one. Drugs and mental health problems are a huge part of homelessness. Everywhere you go around here there are signs that say now hiring. Even my local McDonald’s is saying 11/hr and cost of living here is low.

McDonalds and gas stations jobs are not worthy to be called jobs. Neither are warehouse or put stuff on the shelf jobs. The point is that any job for less than 15 dol per hour seems worse than running a truck for 1 dol per mile by those who have it. Wealth per capita is what determines the economy health, not what 1% grabs for themselves. No matter where you live in US the household cost of decent living (in the greatest economy in the World after all) for less than 50K per year is impossible. Unless we talk eating microwaveable macaroni cheese for dinner everyday and an apartment in a trailer park.
People escaping from McDonald jobs or other ####ty jobs are creating overcapacity. With a healthy economy the demand for transport due to increased trade or production output should be systematically increasing too. In every society most people are with little or average education and limited skill set. They won't find room in service sector. They have to be hired to make things, not drive trucks. In a healthy economy where manufacturing, mining or construction is thriving (1960s-1980s) - traditional jobs for common folks from Everywhereville - and the wages are decent, very few would choose truck driving career over be home every day job.Last edited: Feb 21, 2020
