    when my airbags on truck, or tractor leak down enough, the truck and trailer will shift or settle, and it occasionally sounds like someone backed into the trailer. i've jumped up and checked my mirrors to see if someone got too close, but that hasn't been the case. also, i've got a classic xl, with the side stacks, and when i shut it off and they cool, sometimes it sounds like a knocking sound
