I don't understand why you think we're arguing here. I don't appreciate being called ignorant and being accused of having blinders on. I understand your anti-union beliefs, and I agree that there can a lot of abuse in union shops.
However, none of that has anything to do with bidding work or vacations according to seniority. And none of that would be tolerated at my company. A driver caught stealing time would be fired and there'd be no union there to protect him.
Putting all seniority rules under a "Marxist" umbrella is one helluva stretch. C'mon now.
Is it time to move on?

It's very hard to believe a guy could screw off 7-8 hours everyday and nobody noticed it, stealing time is one of the deadly sins, a union can do nothing to protect you.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

I'm sorry to offend you but you are in fact ignorant to how Unions are used as vessels for Marxism/Socialism. Read a little about how Lenin started the Soviet Union then come back. The entire system is Socialist based. Since you won't let it go...I will. I won't be responding to any more of your comments. Have a good one!

You're free to believe whatever you want, sir.

I'm not in a union and I'm not arguing in favor of them. Seniority rules are the norm in LTL, both union and non. Your ideal LTL company without any seniority system for bidding would fall apart in no time. But your bad experience at a union shop and your political beliefs have you blind to seeing how such a system can be helpful when everyone knows and plays by the same rules.
I work with a majority of very conservative drivers who also hate unions, but if you took away the seniority system they'd be throwing a fit. And for good reason. Their 20 or 30 years of service would be worthless. And I say that having only 3 years in at my place. -
You know guys if you want to argue politics, take it to the politics section.
Just saying.Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -
This is the last I'll say on the subject - I am just trying to point out a simple logical fallacy. I am not arguing about politics.
What is being argued is that unions are Marxist cancers on America, and since unions use seniority boards, those are therefore also Marxist cancers.
That's like saying since unions run daycab tractors, they must also be tools of Marxism. And cross-dock terminals must be temples to Marxist ideology. Ridiculous, isn't it? Saying that bidding on runs is Marxist is just as ridiculous.p608 Thanks this. -
It all depends on the company. A mega fleet where he is just a number, it'll be very similar. He'll get home when the company doesn't need him (could be months). A smaller, family-owned company running regular routes? He could be home nightly, every couple days or weekly.
Now, you said you wanted to run team, so as long as you are together, you won't need as much home time, so that's much better for you both. -
I totally agree.
