This question shouldn't be important. When you are asked about drug use, be honest and let the cards fall where they may.

If this question is an attempt to help someone who uses on occasion to find a job, I can't help you.

While I agree with what you're saying, Bullwinkle, I think the original poster's concerns were not all that different than mine were when I heard Anheuser Busch did hair samples. I haven't done any drugs since I was in my early 20s, but I had always heard that hair samples could detect drug use throughout several years. Fact is, while that is true, there are laws protecting people like me from our foolish youth. Hence the reason they only go back 6 months.

Then again, I could be just gullible enough to think this when in fact the original poster is a raging coke head....who knows....(no offense, Longhorn)

Hello to all, I'm new here.

I'm still certified in the ways of various drug testing methods. Currently, hair follicle testing in my opinion is the end all, not get the job all, career stop all, and most economical way to catch a user. When I trained a few years ago for this stuff, they could accurately go back like a long time to see what you had in your system. They can tell whether you inhaled mary jane being near it at a party or if you actually toked on a single months earlier. I've watched many a people not get hired because of previous usage months earlier. I've seen some get terminated because of a single party they attended a few months earlier also.

For a drug screener, it takes a little longer. But there is no way the screener can error in reading the results as on other testing methods. An independent certified lab determines your fate based off of your own previous actions.

It's pretty cool to tell some your sorry, but you failed. Then again, it sucks to tell some people that also. It really sucks when mom brings the kid in just knowing they're inocent and you have to tell them otherwise.

The best method for not getting caught is to just not do it, especially if you value your job, family, or life. I'm not preaching since 20 years ago, I played really hard. Now, I do other things to occupy my time.

Anyway, nice meeting all of you.

I can't say that I completely trust any test performed by the hand of man. There's always room for human error.

Look at DNA testing early on. It wasn't nearly as perfect a test as many touted. Several people had to be released from long term jail sentences because of the errors.

Nothing built by the hand of man is ever quite perfect.

Again, unless the feds have adopted the hair tests into their approved drug evaluations, it isn't a disqualifier in the feds eyes without the standard tests approved by the feds.

First off I don't do drugs period, but I am not going to say I never did In the past. I would never Drive a Truck Under the influence of any Illegal drugs period and I never have. I am asking the question because my hair Is short on my head but the hair on the rest on my body Is much longer and I don't want to lose my job and career for something I did In the past.

Fair enough. As someone pointed out, many people have things in their past that they wouldn't want highlighted to a new employer. And just because you did something in the past doesn't mean that you will do it now, especially when driving a truck.

You say the hair on the rest of your body is long. Unless you are a member of ZZ Top, I can't believe that the hair on your body is going to be old enough to record a long distant past.

I can be number 3 on your list. I've never in my life smoked and the most harmless "drug" I've ever consumed was alcohol.
