Ya my Pete had something like that, I believe it was powered by the APU (which came factor standard it was also under the bunk)
new company I’m with doesn’t have heating for my APU, but even the smallest heater I’ve found trips the emergency shut off on the unit
owner can afford a Ferrari to show off at work but not a decent heater for his drivers lol welcome to trucking!
Is it worth it to get an APU (Auxilary Power Unit)

Do company drivers have these or are owner-operators the main people who have them? Figure it might be hard to get the company to pay for them, but maybe it's in their interest because of the cost savings?
As an owner-operator I suppose you have a vested interest in your own comfort. -
bzinger Thanks this.

Like how typical are these guys?

Percentage-wise how many trucks on the road have them, do you suppose?

Interesting thread. I've seen what appears to be a trend toward fleets relying on optimized idle rather than apu's but my experience is admittedly limited.
gentleroger and bzinger Thank this. -
maybe just in your experience on the road? Just wanna know the ballpark. 1 out of every 10 trucks you see? 2 out of every 10?
