    Is that .50/mile per driver?

Well, on one hand: If you don't already loathe him, you might start.
On the other: since you'll see him very infrequently (@ibcalm19 'they mean run the truck' - 24hrs, stop for shower, maybe, and food) you might not!

I guess it's a good way to see the States together....... but separately.

I think you are an incredibly mentally tough person to have been a career nurse. So yes you would survive trucking.
Although your with your husband, one of you will most likely be sleeping while the other is driving.
A good friend of mine was a career Navy man. He was often gone 6 moths or more a year. After he retired and he and his wife were constantly together, they were divorced in less than 6 months.

You can be home or make money. You have to choose. Team driving, especially, is about staying out.

50 cents per mile paid to the truck, not to each driver for the miles they held the steering wheel.

If you don't mind real work, try Melton for flatbed. Can you lift 100lb from the ground to shoulder height? If so, you can tarp the loads. You will need a CDL first. I don't believe they have training. Would make decent money solo or as a team with them and they are based in Oklahoma

The highest paying team company I'm aware of is Old Dominion Freight Line. Your husband can start there now then by the time you finish cdl school, you can join him on the truck and he can be your trainer. A good guess is about $150,000.00 per year on average.
TWT Refrigerated Service pays teams .60 cpm split. This is one of the highest team pays for freight companies. Being with your husband, consider that .60 cpm for all miles the truck runs going into your family. Adds up fast.

Google for terminal locations. I'm sure they have a couple of terminals there. Not too long ago they were looking for teams to run out of North Texas.
Even with a company like TWT, figure a slow week of 5000 miles X .60 cpm is a good paycheck.
Still, I'd put Old Dominion as a first choice.
